Starlink Internet is one of the revolutioner high-speed internet services. This project is started by the billionaire Elon Musk that works with SpaceX. At present, the Starlink satellite is in the beta phase and is looking to expand its services worldwide. This Starlink satellite internet can soon be found in India. Elon Musk himself has confirmed this news in a reply through his Twitter.

OnSetDigital, in a Tweet, asked Elon Musk about when they are planning to launch Starlink in India. Elon Musk replies they are figuring out the regulatory approval process in India.

What is Starlink?

Many are still unaware of Starlink and how it works to bring high-speed internet. Well, Starlink is a satellite-based internet service that uses the SpaceX satellites for communication. These Spacex satellites are placed in the LEO(Low Earth Orbit), which means the transmission speed will be faster than the normal satellites. This then reduces the latency, which can provide buffer-free video streaming and gaming. The working is similar to the TV dishes we use, and bad weather affects Starlink’s Internet speed.

The catch is that you can connect to this internet from any part of this world, even from remote areas where laying fiber lines and infrastructure is impossible. According to the reports, until June, there are over 1,500 active customers using Starlink.

What is the Hurdle for Starlink internet to come to India?

At present Government of India is testing the Starlink Beta to check whether it is violating the Indian Telegraph Act of 1885, the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act of 1933, India’s Satcom policy of 2000, and the Information Technology (IT) Act of 2000. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is still yet to confirm the final view regarding Starlink Internet in India.

Starlink’s speed ranges from 50Mbps to 150Mbps, and it is working to achieve 300Mbps of maximum speed.
