Microsoft has been teasing a new version of Windows indirectly till now. Now it has brought the discussion of when Windows 10 will retire from the official support. The support lifecycle page has updated October 14th, 2025, as the end of support for Windows 10 Home and Pro. This is the first time Microsoft mentioned the end of support or retirement for Windows 10 from 2025.

Until before, the page used to give a date when the update would leave the support but now mentions a retirement date. The first version of Windows 10 support for Home and Pro is on July 29th, 2015. It is exactly ten years for Windows 10, the same Microsoft maintained for previous Windows support.

Microsoft has been sending hints about its new Windows 11 as it is getting ready to launch. The company is holding a special Windows event to reveal the next generation of the OS. The event will be held next week at 11 AM ET(8:30 PM IST). The event invite also hints at the new Windows 11 logo with a Windows symbol with a shadow of 11 on it. Last week we saw an 11-minute video from Microsoft that has the latest Windows 11 startup sound.

Microsoft has been working on this with a code name “Sun Valley ” that the company refers to as a sweeping visual rejuvenation of Windows. We are expecting a lot of visible changes from the new Windows 11. While some are getting excited to see the new UI and GUI, others expect just a modified version of Windows 10.

Microsoft has a record of supporting software for ten years, and it is keeping its word even with Windows 10. This doesn’t mean the mainstream support for Windows 10 will end on October 14th. The company will still provide some bug fixes and security patches but won’t introduce some new features.
