AMD after the launch of their Ryzen CPU with the Zen core there was no looking back. Way back in 2017 where intel was ruling the CPU market Ryzen just shook the market with the performance. Now AMD is continuing its journey on upgrading performance on every new model. Yesterday AMD in a virtual event launched its new Ryzen 5000 series Desktop CPUs. The event starts with their processors present in the next-generation consoles PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Series S.
AMD ZEN 3 Core:
The whole new AMD Ryzen 5000 series is based on the new Zen 3 core. This time AMD not only increases the overall performance, better power consumption but also best single-thread performance. The Zen 3 still has the 7nm architecture that was improved in the Zen 2 way back last year.
Zen 3 has a higher frequency, low latency, and higher instructions per clock. The new core can take 19% higher instructions per clock while reducing the delay which they call “Zero Bubble”. All these features make the Zen 3 ahead of its competitors with the Desktop experience they give.
The Zen 2 has two 16MB L3 CACHE packed with 4 CPU cores now taking another step higher with the layout Zen 3 has a single 32MB L3 CACHE with 8 CPU cores. This direct access to the large cache makes it significant for gaming. This layout makes every core to access the single twice large cache for the low load speed of games. Not only that Zen 3 also is 2.8 times more efficient than the industry-leading desktop processor Core i9-10900K.
This is not the end of technology as AMD hints about their next ZEN 4 being designed on a 5nm chip in the upcoming year.
AMD Ryzen 5000 Series:
The world’s first Zen 3 powered CPU in the AMD Ryzen high-performance CPU is Ryzen 9 5900X. The processor has 12 cores, 24 threads, and a boost of up to 4.8Ghz. The new Ryzen 9 5900X has 19% higher IPC, higher clock speed, 70MB L2 + L3 Cache, and 105W TDP. AMD Ryzen 9 5900X has a double-digit increase in performance in many games like Tomb Rider 3, CS: GO, League of Legends, PUBG, and many more than the previous Ryzen 9 3900XT.
The new Ryzen processors powered by the Zen 3 is the first desktop CPU in the world to cross 600 single CPU score. We had a demonstration in compression with the intel i9-10900K which scores 544 in single-core performance which is way less than the score 613 by the Zen 3 powered AMD Ryzen 9 5900X.
Price and Availability:
In addition to the Ryzen 9 5900X, there are two more variants Ryzen 7 5800X and Ryzen 5 5600X. The Ryzen 7 5800X has 8 core,16-thread with a performance boost of up to 4.7Ghz. Ryzen 5 5600X has 6 core, 12-thread with a performance boost up to 4.6Ghz. Now coming to the prices the Ryzen 9 comes at $549 USD, Ryzen 7 at $449 USD, and Ryzen 5 at $299 USD. All these will be available from November 5th globally.
