Apple AirPods Pro came out in October 2019 just a few months before the global pandemic. These TWS earbuds have set a new industry standard in terms of sound and noise cancellation. The earbuds were too good that almost all the companies tried copying them. Apple doesn’t release a newer version of AirPods every year like the iPhone. In the year 2021, we got the third generation of Apple AirPods that almost looked like the AirPods Pro. Now rumours suggest a new AirPods Pro 2 coming this year 2022 by the year-end.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a note to Appleinsider and 9to5Mac gave the specifications for the upcoming AirPods Pro 2. He mentions that Apple might include the AirTag technology in the case of the AirPods Pro to track it. Another awaiting feature that everyone is waiting for is the support to lossless audio codec support. He says this will be given in the upcoming AirPods 2 that will be launched along with the new iPhone 14 series in October.
Apart from these technical improvements, Apple might also look to redesign the AirPods Pro. Apple AirPods Pro 2 will be having a newer sporty design that was also mentioned earlier in the Bloomberg article. The only question we get in the rumours is the Lossless audio codec support that Kuo mentioned. The present Bluetooth is limited in such a way it cannot be used to take complete advantage of the ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec). The highest and best codec that is being used in all the flagship Android and latest Apple products is the AAC (Advanced Audio Codec). Apple needs to work on improving the bandwidth of Bluetooth in order to achieve this feature in Apple AirPods Pro 2.
