Apple held its Unleashed hardware event yesterday and announced some mind-blowing tech. We covered all the news in a separate recap article. In this, we’re only talking about the newly launched Apple AirPods 3 (3rd generation). It seems Apple finally brought its Spatial Audio feature to Apple Airpods, the truly wireless earphones. The third generation of AirPods has a lot to offer; let’s talk.
AirPods 3 – All-new design
Apple’s new third-generation Airpods has the same force sensor seen on AirPods Pro, and the stem size is decreased. The ear tips design remains the same, but the silicon tips seen in AirPods Pro are removed in AirPods 3. That’s a bummer since most users love those silicon tips and the comfort they give; I’m one of them. Thanks to the design upgrade, the AirPods are completely IPX4 water and sweat-resistant; both earbuds and the charging case.
Specifications and Features
Apple is bringing a new set of features — adaptive EQ and spatial audio — to the AirPods 3, the third-generation AirPods. The new AirPods is embedded with an H1 chip to compute and deliver a better audio experience. “The powerful H1 chip combines with an Apple-designed acoustic system and uses computational audio to deliver breakthrough sound with Adaptive EQ.”
Spatial audio will also come with a dynamic head tracking feature and be effective in FaceTime calls. Apple used a new skin-detect sensor for effective wear detection.
Talking about battery life, Apple claims that AirPods 3 can last up to 6hrs on a single charge. Keeping your AirPods in your charging case for 5min and will give you an hour of listening time. The AirPods combined with the charging case will provide you with 30hrs of playback. The new AirPods 3 will also support MagSafe for wireless charging.
AirPods 3 Price and Availability
AirPods 3 will cost you $179 in the United States (INR 18,500 in India). Pre-orders for the third generation of AirPods (AirPods 3) are already open. The wide sales start from October 26, 2021.
