In their Hardware event on October 18th, Apple has announced new Airpods 3rd generation and MacBook Pro. With the MacBook Pro models, we also got to see some new M1 chips called M1 Pro and M1 Max. Let’s look at a quick recap of what Apple has announced.
AirPods 3rd Generation:
Apple, during the event, has introduced us to the latest AirPod 3rd Generation. These new AirPods 3 does have a look taken from its Pro model without the silicon tips. The new AirPods will have spatial audio support with dynamic head support. These new AirPods will also be supporting MagSafe wireless charging. Like the AirPods Pro, these also have force sensors that let you control using the squeeze on the buds. Apple AirPods 3 will also support Dolby Atmos with Apple Music. The price of the AirPods 3 is $179. You can order them starting today and will be available starting from next week.
HomePod Mini:
Apple now has introduced some new colors to the HomePod Mini. The new colors that are added to the already available colors are yellow, orange, and blue. The small smart speakers are priced at $99.
MacBook Pro:
It is here the all rumored notch for the MacBook. As the rumors suggested, we now will get a notch to the new MacBook Pro models with a 14 and 16-inch screen. I don’t have any idea what Apple was thinking to provide a notch on a laptop. The new design from the front seems to be spoiled due to the notch. Apart from the looks, let’s dive into the internal upgrades. The new MacBook Pro will be having the brand new M1 Pro and M1 Max chipset inside them.
While the 14-inch MacBook Pro will only have the M1 Pro chip, the 16-inch MacBook Pro will give us the option to choose between the M1 Pro or M1 Max. Apple has even removed the touch bar that was present on the previous MacBook Pro generation. To replace this, Apple brings Touch ID for Authentication. Apple this time adds many ports to support devices in various forms. Apple also brings back the MagSafe 3 for charging. You also get 3 x Thunderbolt 4 that you can support charging, display, and USB 4. We get an HDMI port also accompanied by an SDXC card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The display of both the MacBook Pros will be Liquid Retina XDR with ProMotion technology. This ProMotion technology lets the display adapt a refresh rate up to 120Hz. Apple also introduces a new memory known as unified memory. This memory is responsible for running many applications in the background. The higher the unified memory, the more the apps are running in the background.
The prices for the new MacBook Pro are as follows:
MacBook Pro 14-inch with M1 Pro (8 core CPU and 14 core GPU): $1999, MacBook Pro 14-inch with M1 Pro (10 core CPU and 16 core GPU): $2499, MacBook Pro 16-inch with M1 Pro (10 core CPU and 16 core GPU): $2499, MacBook Pro 16-inch with M1 Pro (10 core CPU and 16 core GPU): $2699, MacBook Pro 16-inch with M1 Max (10 core CPU and 32 core GPU): $3499.
