It would be great to have earbuds or headphones that can identify the user and tune in according to him. And Apple is looking to achieve this feature as it has already a patent. In order to have this feature Apple need to introduce more hardware that makes identification of user of AirPods easier.
The technology has grown in such a way that we have everything that is smart enough to do its work well. In the same way we will be getting smart earbuds maybe starting with Apple AirPods. The future generations of Apple AirPods might be able to identify the user as soon as they wear them.
The mechanism of the user identification by the Apple AirPods is explained in two formats as per the patent. In one way they have explained that there will be an ultrasonic sound exchange between your iPhone and AirPods. This means if the AirPods receive the signal from the iPhone that means they are nearby and it will tune according to the owner.
Another mechanism to identify the owner of Apple AirPods is from motion and movement of other devices. Other devices here refers to the iPhone and Apple Watch. First it will calculate movements and motion detected on iPhone and the same in Apple Watch. Then it will use these calculation results to match with the motion and movements from the AirPods using which there will be a threshold limit. If user is in the threshold limit of the total score then user will be able to use the owner functionalities.
This is just a patent and the implication of this will be taking a lot of time and taking the history of Apple it will take more than expected. There is a chance that this feature as not worked as thought and may even not come out. Even though the feature sounds sweet just keep you hopes low.
