Oppo in its annual “Inno Day” event where it shows products in concept form giving a clue of their future. This is their second annual event. Oppo has brought a new “rolling phone” and a set of new AR glasses. This concept phone is called as Oppo X 2021. They also have another app for augmented reality called CyberReal.

Oppo X 2021:

The new concept phone is a rollable phone means the screen can expand and contract based on usage. This phone has an OLED 6.7-inch display which can expand to a squarer tablet-like 7.4-inch panel. The company also has a short teaser showing the concept of the phone. You can have a look at it here.

Oppo mentions that the power train, structural plate, and screen laminate were developed on their own to ensure the durability of the device. The expansion of this screen is by the proprietary roll motor powertrain.  The Oppo X 2021 has a curved display to the sides, a USB Type-C port, and a speaker at the bottom. The strength of the screen is by the high-strength screen laminate which Oppo names Warp Track. The phone can provide a full-screen display to both the ratios 16:9 and 4:3 content. The phone also has three cameras at the back but no info about the sensors yet.

However, this is not the first time a company has announced a rollable phone TCL earlier has also a similar model but only on a paper model which is nonfunctional. Oppo has more experience in the smartphone industry and it is easy for them to get the advanced supply chain. Even LG has teased a new phone. Maybe 2021 might be the year of rollable displays just have to wait and witness the change.

AR Glass 2021:

Another product that Oppo unveiled is the Oppo AR Glass 2021. These glasses use birdbath-type optics with 0.71-inch OLED panels. The glass includes fisheye cameras to recognize gestures, a time-of-flight sensor, and an RGB camera. The glasses can be connected to an Oppo Find X2 to get great processing power. Oppo claims these glasses are 75 percent lighter than the previous concept by Oppo.
