Facebook faced a second outage in less span of time from the first. The apps, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, were down for the second time in the same week.
On October 4, Facebook and its other apps and services were down due to a massive outage (consider it the first outage of this week). The blackout happened for 6 hours until Facebook resolved it made everything online. This was the worst outage since the 2019 incident, which took Facebook and its services down for more than 24 hours. And that incident hit hard on small businesses and creators who rely on these services for their income.
Downdetector, a real-time outage monitoring platform across the internet, stated these apps reportedly faced a second outage for some global users.
Facebook took Twitter to share an apology for the current situation. The tweet read, “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

After around two hours, Facebook fixed the issues and updated the status through its Twitter handle. The update read, “We’re so sorry if you weren’t able to access our products during the last couple of hours. We know how much you depend on us to communicate with one another. We fixed the issue — thanks again for your patience this week.”

Facebook has already explained the reason behind its first 6-hour outage. However, let’s hope the second would be the last one for the sake of numerous small businesses depend on it.
