LG has quit the smartphone business earlier this year. We all might have heard about this news of LG. Although it has stopped the production of smartphones, it didn’t stop the hardware. LG is also known for the production of its hardware in Television and other hardware. LG is known to play with the display of smartphones. This time LG foldable display is flexible as plastic and harder than glass.

The current foldable devices are made with foldable ultra-thin glass. This glass display is covered with a plastic screen protector to protect it from cracking and scratches. This plastic screen in the first Galaxy Fold 2019 shattered the glass screen that Samsung had to take back the phone. Now LG is using a new layer that hasn’t been revealed yet, even in the official press release.

They have made this material in such a way that they coated PET on both sides. This coated PET film is then applied to the OLED display. This improves the durability of the foldable display that LG has made. LG claims that the durability of the OLED foldable display improves with many folds. LG mentions that these new PET-coated films can be used on any foldable or normal display. The company also mentions that this foldable display from LG will be handy for outer foldable displays.

The availability of these foldable displays will be reaching the consumer by 2023, according to LG. The official press release doesn’t contain the images of the PET-coated film. LG also kept their silence in mentioning the technology used to apply the PET coat to the film.
