Microsoft Surface Duo foldable Dual screen phablet

Microsoft has been rumoured to be working on the phone after they fall flat from the windows phones in the year 2017. At last, the Redmond Gaint is ready to launch the new phone-tablet hybrid – Surface Duo. Here’s everything you need to know about the Microsoft Surface Duo a foldable phablet.

At last year’s Surface launch event, Microsoft Chief Product Officer Panos Panay demonstrated how Duo can do everything you’d expect from a modern smartphone and tablet.

When we created Surface seven years ago, we wanted to challenge convention by redefining expectations for what a productivity device should be, and what it should do. Put simply, we wanted to help people get things done.” was added to the background in a post to launch Surface Duo.

Microsoft wants to be an entirely new type of device, which can give users something different to the user than the Surface 2-in-1 devices. This device is a hybrid model which allows user to use it as a phone cum tablet cum laptop.

The device actually runs on Android Skin based on Android 10 with which you can download apps from the Google Playstore and even place or accept calls.

Design:

The device has a dual 5.6-inch 1800 x 1350 OLED displays with 4:3 ratio. These displays can be used separately or can be combined to make it a single 8.1-inch screen with 3:2 aspect ratio. The displays are held together with a hinge that allows the display to rotate 360 degrees and can be held at any angle, unlike the Samsung Galaxy fold.

“The hinge Engineers specifically for the Surface Duo here deserve a round of applause”

Price:

The device is priced at $1399 which is quite expensive but isn’t ridiculous when compared to its rivals at the same price point. The device will be available in AT&T, Microsoft Stores and Best Buy. There are no details as to when it will be available in other parts of the world.

Overall the technology is being updated at a rapid pace and as smartphones are becoming bigger in size the foldable display may become the future of the smartphone industry. Samsung and a few companies have already released their own versions of foldable phones if the technology of the screen has developed in achieving a perfect foldable display we might even see a foldable phone from other smartphone manufactures that includes Apple.
