Samsung Galaxy MWC 2021 yesterday, i.e., June 28, 2021, was an entirely virtual event. Samsung talked about some of the key aspects in the MWC on Galaxy Experience, One UI Watch, Privacy, and Security. The South Korean company revealed the new user interface for its next-generation Wearable devices. It did not reveal the next Galaxy Watch 4, but they showcased a sneak peek of One UI Watch. However, it did announce that the new hardware is coming later this year, maybe in the summer.
One UI Watch is Samsung’s take on Wear OS. Last month at Google I/O, Google announced that they partner with Samsung to build a new Watch OS called Wear. Typically, Google’s Wear OS, unified with Samsung’s Tizen OS, will be the new smartwatch OS Wear. However, with this build, they claim that they concentrated on three key aspects – faster performance, longer battery life, and a thriving developer ecosystem.
“Samsung and Google have a long history of collaboration, and whenever we’ve worked together, the experience for our consumers has been dramatically better for everyone,” said Sameer Samat, Vice President of Product Management, Android and Wear, Google. “That certainly holds true for this new, unified platform, which will be rolling out for the first time on Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch.”
In addition, Samsung will bring an enhanced watch face design tool, making it easier for designers to create new watch faces.
The next Galaxy Watch 4 will feature One UI Watch and the new, unified platform. Samsung to unveil the next Galaxy Watch at Unpacked event later this summer. You can read their official blog post for more information.
