Sony is planning to make a new controller but not for PlayStation but for mobile. The Japanese company has filed a patent for the new PlayStation controller for mobile. This patent was filed a week ago and also contains the design of the controller in the patent.

The patent was published by SIE’s Japanese division that mentions a controller designed for a device that can be attached. The picture of the controller resembles the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 rather than the PlayStation 5 DualSense. The left and right sides of the controller have a gap to fit a smartphone or mobile.

The patent mentions “left-hand side portion and right-hand side portion” which means the shaft can be tilted by the users. The present version of the PlayStation controller can connect to any mobile device that has Bluetooth. Sony is looking to make a controller that can be alike a mobile game controller rather than a Playstation controller.

The news from Sony to design a PlayStation controller for mobile is no shock as the company was looking at smartphones recently. PlayStation’s first-party IPs might soon be available in the Sony Mobiles as the company is looking to expand its gaming services. This statement was given by Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan. Though he didn’t give any hints on the IPs as there are numerous IPs that are willing to make their debut on mobile platforms. He also mentions “Mobile is just one of the areas we are exploring to reach millions of gamers beyond our platforms”.
