Windows 10 October 2020 update is rolling out, brings start menu redesign

Windows 10 October 2020 update

Microsoft released the first Windows 10 in 2015. And from then, Windows 10 has been improving by getting major changes and stability updates. Compared to the initial release, Windows 10 is much stable and sleek now. Microsoft decided not to release the next major Windows versions like Windows 11 or something. Windows 10 will stay and keep on getting updates. Microsoft brings another update for Windows 10 rolling out from yesterday.

On Windows 10 October 2020 update, the very noticeable change is its start menu redesign. They removed the color matching tiles and made them theme-aware with a light transparent background. And the icons in the app list are not like bulky square anymore; they’re just the original icons. For higher refresh rate displays, we can now change the refresh rate directly from display settings.

The taskbar is more touch-friendly now in both desktop and tablet mode. Also, there will be no prompt to switch tablet mode ON when you detach it from the keyboard. The notification center also gets a bit of redesign. The Edge browser update packed with some user essential tools. Alt + Tab will now work with the Edge browser to switch between tabs.

Microsoft is now launching Xbox Game Pass for PC. That can directly be downloaded from Microsoft Store. Above all, some security patches and stability enhancements are as expected. By the way, Windows released a little teaser for this update. If at all you want, here.

The rollout has already started yesterday (20th October). So you might hit up with it already. If not, check for updates in your settings menu. Still didn’t find? Well, wait for a bit. It is somehow regional dependant and you’ll receive it very soon.
