Windows 10 to get support for Android apps without a third-party emulator by the fall of 2021. Reports say it also to get a big UI re-design. Microsoft is also planning to introduce its first device with Windows 10X in mid-2021.
It’s almost the end of 2020 and Microsoft had like a groundwork year. Earlier this year, Panos Panay, Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer, has taken charge of the windows user experience. Under his charge, Microsoft announced a reinvestment in Windows 10 for 2021. There is no specific mention of the plans yet, but sources are like it is to get a big revamp in fall 2021.
According to a report by Windows Central, with the next big update, Windows 10 will have new top-level features and a refreshed UI that is more modern and consistent. The most important mention is, bringing Andoird apps to the Microsoft Store on Windows 10. The very same report claims that Android apps can be able to run on Windows 10 natively without emulator support. Apart from this, there is no detailed information on this at the moment.
Microsoft will ship x86 64-bit app-emulation for Windows 10 on ARM. This will allow devices like the Surface Pro X to run most legacy Windows apps. This can fill the app-gap between Windows PCs and mobile devices. This sounds like Apple’s recent M1 chip that supports iOS apps on MacBooks. These new features will appear in the preview version soon and ship in 2021.
Windows 10X
Windows 10X is a modern and light-weight version of Windows 10 Operation System; designed to run on Low and mid-range PCs as well as foldable PCs. Windows 10X will RTM (release to manufacturing) in December; and the first Windows 10X devices will start shipping from spring 2021.
According to Windows Central, Windows 10X will not support win32 apps locally. But Microsoft is in plans to introduce a Cloud PC streaming service that fixes the problem. Reports also claim that Windows 10X can run on ARM PCs. Being a light-weight OS with better battery life and performance, Windows 10X is a ‘Chromebook killer’.
Windows 10 Cloud PC
Microsoft to push a new service based on Azure called Cloud PC. It will let users install and run applications in Windows 10 Cloud PC that can be streamed from anywhere at any time. Sounds like cloud-gaming? Yeah, the skeleton is similar. It helps users to run applications that are beyond their hardware; it just runs on the cloud and the user can stream with any minimal hardware (Uh.. kind of like virtual desktop).
In conclusion
Microsoft had a big year and will have an even more big one. As we mentioned in the article earlier, Microsoft is killing silently, faster, and better in its own path. It seems like Microsoft is listening to the fans’ requirements. Fall 2021 will be a feast for Windows 10 and the users.
So that’s it for now. Thank you for reading and do share if you get a bit piece of information. Also, keep an eye on this space to get more relevant updates. Stay safe and hope we see you around.
