Microsoft revealed the Windows 11 release date as October 5th. But it also mentioned, “new eligible devices will be offered the upgrade first. The upgrade will then roll out over time to in-market devices based on intelligence models that consider hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, age of the device, and other factors that impact the upgrade experience.”
Microsoft is also cutting down Android App support and other features with this stable update; we may see that sometime in 2022. However, Windows Insiders will gain access to the feature sooner rather than later.
In conclusion, Microsoft meant that the newly launching or launched PC devices would get Windows 11 on October 5th. The PCs existing in the market and the older PCs will get the update after all the eligibility checks are done.
What makes a PC eligible for Windows 11?

- System firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
- TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
- Graphics card: Compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver
- Display: High definition (720p) display that is greater than 9” diagonally, 8 bits per color channel
- Internet connection and Microsoft accounts: Windows 11 Home edition requires internet connectivity and a Microsoft account to complete device setup on first use. Switching a device out of Windows 11 Home in S mode also requires internet connectivity. A Microsoft account is required for some features.
How to check if the Windows 11 update is available on your PC?
Windows will automatically notify you if you have the update available on your PC. If you’re eager to know before it notifies you, you can always “GO to PC Settings -> Windows Update” and click the “Check for Updates” and it’ll manually check for updates and display if any. Or you can directly search “Check for Updates” and land on the same.
Microsoft is planning to release Windows 11 to all eligible devices by mid-2022.
